Metrobuses to be domestically produced

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Recep Altepe said Bursa is taking spearheading steps for domestic production, adding that the first domestically-made metrobuses are being produced in Bursa, following the building of the first domestic tramways and metros in the city. The 25-meter-long metrobus built in the city consists of three bends - a first - and is capable of carrying 290 passengers.

Altepe and a group of bureaucrats from Bursa Metropolitan Municipality visited the metrobus factory which is producing the first domestic metrobuses in Turkey. Factory authorities informed Altepe about the technical details and production process of metrobuses.

Expressing his excitement about domestic metrobus production, Altepe pointed to Turkey's development. He said, "The existence of strong cities is important in the creation of a strong Turkey. We aim to boost domestic production and produce vehicles with high added value in a strong Bursa."

Metrobus factory General Manager Remzi Baka shared information about the metrobus production, stating that with Altepe's support, they produced the 290-passenger metrobus, the highest-capacity metrobus in the world, in order to take public transport to a higher level. The project has been developed as an alternative to railroad vehicles in fast growing cities. Baka said, "We are producing diesel, hybrid and electric versions as well. We strive to do good for Turkey."
