Acıbadem Group opens 22nd hospital with $200M investment

The Acıbadem Healthcare Group has opened its 22nd hospital located in Altunizade on the European side of Istanbul, with an investment volume of $200 million.

The group, which consists of a partnership of Malaysia's Khazanah Nasional, Japanese Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and Turkey's Acıbadem, offers many firsts for its patients.

Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital is the first private hospital of its kind in Turkey and Istanbul, featuring the largest indoor area with a capacity of 350 beds and a surface area of 98,000 square meters, in not only Istanbul but also the rest of Turkey as well.

In addition, the hospital also provides its services with a capacity of 75 intensive care beds and a parking area for 550 vehicles.

Acıbadem Health Group has hospitals across Europe as well, serving patients in Iraq, Bulgaria, Macedonia and the Netherlands. Moreover, the group seeks to increase the volume of health tourism.

Speaking at a press tour in the group's new hospital, Acıbadem Healthcare Group Chairman Mehmet Ali Aydınlar said that they aim to make $100 million per year by bringing patients to Turkey in the next five years.

"We have successfully brought patients to Turkey from nearly every corner of the world," Aydınlar noted, adding their main areas of interest have been Russia, the Turkic Republics, the Balkans, African countries and the Middle East.

Acıbadem Altunizade will be the first hospital to feature three different diagnostic units in a hybrid operating room. The hospital is equipped with a hybrid operating room system which integrates three different diagnosis units (3-Tesla MRI, 128-Slice CT and Robotic Angiography devices) at the same location and makes it possible for operations in three different operating rooms to be performed at the same time.

This structure provides guidance to surgeons by producing images of the patient during neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedic surgery and maxillofacial surgery procedures, and increases the success rate of treatments.

By means of a concept which was designed specifically for children, the mother and baby-friendly hospital has a comprehensive pediatric clinic that provides services virtually in the same fashion as a pediatric hospital.

The pediatric clinic, which has an entrance separate from the other hospital entrances, also has separate waiting rooms for well and sick children.

The clinic has all sub-specialties that are required for treatment of pediatric diseases as well.

Other specialized departments that were designed exclusively for children are the Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Polyclinic and Pediatric Dental HealthCare Centers. The emergency department of Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital also has a special examination area that is separated from the space meant for adults.

The modern diagnosis and treatment equipment at the Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital includes the Intraoperative 3-Tesla MRI, Force CT, Prism 3-Tesla MRI, Robotic Angiography, Sliding CT, SPECT CT, Gamma Knife Icon, TrueBeam, TomoTherapy HDA and da Vinci devices.

The Acıbadem Healthcare Group works under IHH Healthcare Berhad, which is listed on the main markets of Malaysia and the Singapore Stock Exchange and is the world's second largest listed healthcare operator by market capitalization.

IHH Healthcare Berhad, a global brand with Turkish, Malaysian and Japanese partners, holds well-known brands such as Gleneagles, Mount Elizabeth, Pantai, Parkway Health and Acıbadem.
