Turkey's Santa Farma to produce medicine for Japan's Astellas


Turkish pharmaceutical company Santa Farma signed a contract manufacturing agreement with Japanese pharmaceutical company Astellas, according to Turkish daily Habertürk.

According to the statement issued by Santa Farma, as part of the cooperation, the company will produce Astellas's medicine for urinary system diseases at its production facility in Dilovası.

Within the scope of the collaboration, Santa Farma plans to be the European production center of Astellas' production in the long term.

Speaking on the agreement, Santa Farma CEO Erol Kiresepi said, "We are in a period when we are beginning to actualize our vision of domestic contract manufacturing as a result of the investments we have made... Our aim is to ensure that the products of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies are produced in Turkey at our new and modern facilities."

With 150 million euros in investment in 2015, Santa operationalized its Santa Farma Production Center at the Kocaeli Gebze V (Chemistry) Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (GEBKİM) in Dilovası. The plant works with a production capacity of 150 million boxes per year.
