Rönesans Holding is preparing to bring its experience in public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Turkey's healthcare sector to Europe. Together with Ballast Nedam which it acquired last year, Rönesans is preparing to actualize a PPP project consisting of roads and tunnels in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, amounting to roughly 1 billion euros.

The A24 Blankenburg-Verbinding Public-Private Partnership Project, planned to be constructed in one of the Netherlands' most central regions of Rotterdam, consists of the design of the existing and new infrastructure and will facilitate access to the region, as well.

Rönesans Holding continues to expand rapidly in Europe as well as in Turkey, since it was founded in 1993. The holding continues to grow across Europe amid aims to become one of the leading contracting companies worldwide.

Rönesans Holding, which also incorporated Austrian Alpine Bau company's Swiss subsidiary Hergiswil as well as the German Heitkamp company, acquired the Dutch construction company Ballast Nedam a short time ago. As the first result of these major acquisitions, Rönesans Holding built Goothhard Base, which is Europe's 100-year-old dream and the longest tunnel in the world, linking Zurich and Milan. The holding is now taking initial steps to launch a mega project, consisting of roads and tunnels, in Rotterdam.

The tender for A24 Blankenburg-Verbinding has been temporarily entrusted to the consortium of Ballast Nedam, DEME and Macquarie under Rönesans Holding.

According to the statement made by the Directorate General of Dutch Public Works and Water Management Rijkswaterstaat, the A24 Blankenburg-Verbinding PPP project includes the designing of new and existing infrastructure.

Rönesans, which has actualized important PPP projects in healthcare in Turkey, demonstrates that it is successfully carrying this experience to Europe, as well. The project, which will be operated by this consortium for 20 years, will facilitate access to Rotterdam from other Dutch cities and nearby regions.

Ballast Nedam Chairman Cenk Düzyol commented on the project, saying, "If no appeal is submitted, our final contract will be completed in a short time." Düzyol emphasized that the project has been set within the framework of the 2020-2040 "Rotterdam Vooruit" master plan covering the Rotterdam region, stating, "As Rönesans Holding, we are proud to contribute to such a big project for the social life of the Dutch as well as the economy.
