Local company to export first domestically produced subway vehicle

Bozankaya, the producer of Turkey's first domestic electric bus, will also export the country's first metro car in 2018. Bozankaya will produce vehicles for the Green Line Metro Project for the Thai capital of Bangkok, which will be contracted by a consortium with Siemens Mobility.

Science, Industry and Technology Ministry Undersecretary of the Veysel Yayan, Science, Industry and Technology Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ramazan Yıldırım, Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) Chairman Nurettin Özdebir and Middle East Industry and Trade Center (OSTİM) Chairman Orhan Aydın visited the Bozankaya facilities in the ASO 1st Organized Industrial Zone and obtained information about production.

During the visit, Bozankaya Chairman Aytunç Günay gave information about the company's products and production capacity. Yayan examined the new-generation electric bus to be launched at the Busworld 2017 Europe Fair to be held in Kortrijk, Belgium, and the vehicles to be exported to Bangkok for the Green Line Metro Project.

Yayan emphasized Bozankaya's contribution to the national economy, stating that the vehicles produced are very important for both domestic and foreign markets. Yayan spoke of the importance of being an exporter in a field where Turkey depends on foreign countries and congratulated the firm.

The Green Line Project will have a line length of 68.25 kilometers and 59 subway stations. Each of the 22 trains to serve the line will consist of four subways. These trains, operating at 1,840 kilowatts, can travel at speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour and carry 1,596 passengers at a time.

The production of vehicles began some time ago at the Bozankaya premises in Sincan, Ankara. The project will start in 2018 and final deliveries will be made in 2019. Due to this international partnership, a global technology giant with more than 100 years of experience will have transferred significant technology and know-how to Bozankaya, which has design, production, testing and commissioning teams that specialized in various transport vehicle projects before.

With the project, Bozankaya will obtain the ability to design and produce its own subway cars and the company's production area in the Sincan ASO 1st Organized Industrial Zone will have been doubled. In addition to upgrading the two existing production lines to 11, significant infrastructure investments amounting to 25 million euros will be made in welding robots, new paint facilities, fixtures and test computers.
