Amazon chief suspended after harassment reports

The head of Amazon Studios has been suspended and the company is reviewing its work with the Weinstein Company, Amazon said.

"Roy Price is on leave of absence effective immediately. We are reviewing our options for the projects we have with The Weinstein Co," a spokesperson said.

The statement came hours after U.S. media reported that a television producer on the Amazon series "The Man in the High Castle" had accused Price of propositioning her and making lewd comments. Isa Hackett, the daughter of Philip K. Dick, on whose work the series is based, said she had reported the incident to Amazon executives at the time and had agreed to speak about the story after reading other women's accounts of alleged assault and harassment at the hands of Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein in recent days.

Earlier on Thursday, actress Rose McGowan also accused Amazon of failing to act after she told Price that Weinstein had raped her. "I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn't been proven. I said I was the proof," she wrote on Twitter to Amazon boss Jeff Bezos.
