Turkish mass transportation giant Bozankaya said Saturday that it is set to deliver four cars to the Bangkok Mass Transit System.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Bozankaya CEO Aytunç Günay said, "We will deliver four 22-meter metro cars to Bangkok metros, and we're working with Siemens for the second line." In May 2016, the Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company (BTSC) placed an order to the Siemens-Bozankaya consortium - in which each partner has an equal 50 percent stake - for 22 four-unit metro trains, including 16 years of service and maintenance by Siemens.

Stressing the importance Ankara-based Bozankaya attached to building electric bus fleets, Günay said his team of over 75 research and development engineers have been working on projects ranging from buses, tramcars and light rail systems.

"Our goal is to sell 200 electric buses in 2018 and 500 in 2019," Günay said, "Our target market is Germany and other European countries."

Bozankaya's "E-Karat" electric buses are currently operating in the Turkish cities of Konya, Eskişehir and İzmir.
