Turkish defense company Havelsan and the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) have reached an agreement for the sale of the HAMZA-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which they jointly developed.

The agreement was signed on Thursday at the 2026 El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, where Havelsan and AOI advanced their cooperation in unmanned and autonomous systems to a new stage.

The deal follows a strategic cooperation agreement signed by the two organizations on Aug. 26, 2025, covering the joint production in Egypt of autonomous UAVs capable of vertical takeoff and landing.

HAMZA-1 is a key example of Havelsan's engineering and technological expertise in autonomous systems being translated into international cooperation. The technology know-how gained through Havelsan's development of UAV platforms for different mission concepts, including BAHA, BOZBEY, POYRAZ and BULUT, has been combined with local production capabilities in Egypt through the HAMZA-1 program.

The HAMZA-1 system brings together Havelsan's engineering and technological expertise in autonomous systems with AOI's local manufacturing capabilities in Egypt. The first HAMZA-1 system developed under the cooperation was unveiled at EDEX 2025 in Cairo in December 2025.

With the sales agreement signed at the El Alamein International Airshow, the HAMZA-1 program has moved into a commercial phase following joint production activities. The cooperation has turned Havelsan's autonomous systems technologies and AOI's local manufacturing infrastructure into a tangible product aimed at international markets.

HAMZA-1 systems are expected to be delivered to different users under the agreement.
