Turkish films showcased in Bosnia


ISTANBUL — Acclaimed Turkish films including Osman Sınav's "Uzun Hikaye" (Long Story) starring Turkish actor Kenan İmirzalıoğlu, will be shown in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the sixth Sarajevo Festival of Turkish Films this year. The Festival of Turkish Films will kick off with a special screening welcoming both the director and the leading actor of "Uzun Hikaye" on April 25 and will end on May 1 in Sarajevo. The festival is being organized by the Office of the Adviser for Culture and Tourism of the Turkish Embassy in Sarajevo and Bosnian cinema fans will be able to enjoy the films free of charge. Screenings for the festival will take place at the cinema Meeting Point in Sarajevo and at the Multipleks Cinestar in Mostar from May 7 to May 11.The films "Yunus Emre Aşkın Sesi" (Yunus Emre: The Voice of Love), "Zerre" (The Particle), "Uzak" (Distant), "Propaganda" and "Tepenin Ardı" (Behind the Hill) are among the other films that will be screened at the festival. All movies will be presented with Bosnian subtitles.Cengiz Aydın, the attache for Culture and Tourism at the Turkish Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina said that every year the festival tries to offer new events which catch the eye of the public. "We need to organize an interesting opening and we should organize this festival in other cities as well, besides Sarajevo. Like last year, the opening of the festival will be held in Sarajevo," said Aydın.Aydın went on to say that they will try to select current films which are suitable for the Bosnian public and that they are hoping the festival will attract many film lovers as it did in previous years. "This film is directed by Osman Sınav and the famous Turkish actor Kenan İmirzalıoğlu plays the main role in the film. They will be our guests at the festival opening on April 25. Our goal was to bring directors and actors that are known by the Bosnian public to attend to the opening." Mehmet Günsür and Selma Ergeç, who both star in "Muhteşem Yüzyıl" (The Magnificent Century) attended last year's opening, making headlines across the Balkan world. The festival will also mark the 100th anniversary of Turkish cinema this year.
