The Copyright and Internet Publishing project initiated by the Association of Documentary Filmmakers in Turkey (BSB) and the German Documentary Filmmakers Union (AG Dok) intends to establish the necessary technical infrastructure to design an alternative copyright model and introduce film productions to viewers online through legal means. Financed by the EU and Turkey Civil Society Dialogue Media Fund Program, the project will analyze copyright distribution in the film industries of European countries and create a functional model for Turkey. It will also assess the requirements for an online video publishing platform that will offer audio and visual works produced in Turkey to end-users in legal ways. The BSB will further enrich its digital video library content with new documentaries and stock images. As part of the project, a panel and workshop will be organized from June 16-17 at Pera Museum with the participation of international and local experts. On June 16, a panel titled "Copyright Issue in Collective Rights Management" will deal with how EU countries define collective rights management and focus on related national practices and legislation. The participants will discuss how to create a functional copyright model for Turkey. On June 17, the next panel, "New Opportunities in Online Video Publishing," aims to raise consciousness of legal online circulation of copyrighted films.
