The 52nd International Antalya Film Festival is one of the most celebrated cinema events in Turkey and has kicked off with its traditional opening ceremony night on Sunday. Organized by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the International Antalya Film Festival is hosting international stars from the silver screen this year.Antalya mayor and the president of the film festival, Menderes Türel, welcomed all actors and directors before the ceremony. Türel and students from the Metropolitan Municipality Special Education School and Rehabilitation Center presented handmade gifts to all participants. During the opening ceremony at the Glass Pyramid Congress and Exhibition Center, Turkish cinema veterans Erden Kıral, Ayşen Gruda and Kayhan Yıldızoğlu along with world-renowned actors Jeremy Irons, Catherine Deneuve and Kathleen Turner, received Lifetime Achievement Awards. Tijen Par was honored with the Yıldırım Önal Commemoration Award. This award is given to a different actor each year.
