Three films debut in Turkish theaters this week


Kalandar Soğuğu (Cold of Kalandar)Starring Haydar Şişman, Nuray Yeşilaraz, Hanife Kara and İbrahim Kuvvet, "Kalandar Soğuğu" (Cold of Kalandar) is directed by Mustafa Kara. Written by director Kara and Bilal Sert, the Turkish production premiered at the Tokyo Film Festival and won the awards for Best Director and Best Film. Following the film's success in Tokyo, "Kalandar Soğuğu" won four Golden Orange Awards at the International Antalya Film Festival. "Kalandar Soğuğu," which is about the relationship between mankind and nature, is a Hungarian film co-produced and financially supported by Eurimages; however, the script of the film was officially recognized by an independent and original institution. "Kalandar Soğuğu" was chosen among 10 stories at the Istanbul Film Festival's "Köprüde Buluşmalar Story Workshop" in 2010. Following the preparation phase, film shooting began in 2013 and the filming continued over four seasons to portray the relationship between nature and mankind.Yıldızlar da Kayar: Das Borak (Stars Fall Too: Das Borak)Yavuz Seçkin, one of the most well-known comedians in Turkey, brings one of his comedic characters, Das Borak, to the silver screen with his new cinema production, "Yıldızlar da Kayar: Das Borak" (Star Falls As Well: Das Borak). Two brothers establish a casting agency and decide to find the doppelgangers of famous film stars and musicians. As they find the doppelgangers, they heard the news that world-renowned musician Das Borak has cancelled all his concerts due to depression. The organizer of Borak lost a lot of money due to cancellations and asked his brothers to find a doppelganger for Borak. Starring Seçkin, Altan Gördüm, Altan Erkekli, Serenay Aktaş, Larissa Gacemer and Ali Erkazan, the film is directed by Levent Görgeç.ImperiumDirected by Daniel Ragussis, the American production features Daniel Radcliffe, who is known for his role as Harry Potter, Toni Collette, Tracy Letts and Devin Druid. An idealistic FBI agent, Nate Foster (Radcliffe), goes undercover to find leads on some illegally imported caesium-137 and its relationship with active white supremacist groups. Nate, a promising analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) suddenly finds himself in the world of neo-Nazis. He gets involved with several active groups through Agent Zamparo's inside man. He immerses in the culture and draws out connections to a possible bomb blast planned by some inter-group fanatics. The up-and-coming analyst must confront the challenge of sticking to a new identity while maintaining his real principles as he navigates the dangerous underworld of white supremacy.
