Oscar-winning French director Michel Hazanavicius, who is taking part in the 54th International Antalya Film Festival with his latest work "Le Redoutable," has given the festival the thumbs up.

The famous director met press and cinema lovers for a Q&A session on the sidelines of the festival on Oct. 24.

Praising the International Antalya Film Festival as a well-prepared event, Hazanavicius said: "The screening of our film went really well. I made people laugh. The people at the festival are very sympathetic and it was very well organized. I also liked the anthology. I think it is a very good festival. I am happy to be here. I am lucky that I had the opportunity to visit the city, too."

"I tried to make my film full of humor. I was inspired by Italian comedies. I like them a lot. Comedies aren't very common at the Cannes Film Festival. I received both positive and negative reactions there."

"There are some people who think Jean-Luc Godard is untouchable. However, we received much better reaction than expected. Louis, the leading actor of the film, is handsome, charismatic and serious. Giving a role in a comedy to such a serious actor is more enjoyable. I didn't portray a hero or a villain, but a human in my film," said the director about "Le Redoutable."

The film focuses on the relationship between director Godard and young actress Anne Wiazemsky.
