'Ayla'

Turkey's 2017 candidate for the Oscar's "Best Foreign Language Film" category, "Ayla" opened for Turkish cinema lovers this week.

Directed by Can Ulkay, the film stars İsmail Hacıoğlu, Kim Seol, Çetin Tekindor, Ali Atay, Murat Yıldırım, Taner Birsel, Altan Erkekli, Meral Çetinkaya, Damla Sönmez, Büşra Develi, Eric Roberts, Lee Kyung-Jin, Sinem Uslu and Erkan Petekkaya.

Written by Yiğit Güralp and adapted from a true story, it follows the paths of a little desolate Korean girl, Ayla, and a Turkish sergeant, Süleyman Dilbirliği, who meet and develop a heartwarming bond.

'İşe Yarar Bir Şey' (Something Useful)

Directed by Pelin Esmer, "İşe Yarar Bir Şey" stars Başak Köklükaya, Öykü Karayel, Yiğit Özşener, Ayşenil Şamlıoğlu and Berfu Öngören.

Co-written by the film's director Pelin Esmer and Barış Bıçakçı, the drama focuses on the story of two young female train travelers and their interactions with a man who looks forward to dying.

'Yol Arkadaşım' (My Travel Mate)

Directed by Bedran Güzel, the film stars İbrahim Büyükak and Oğuzhan Koç. This story focuses on the adventures of two men, connected only by a common destination, who meet by chance via a mobile application along the way.

'Thor: Ragnarok'

Directed by Taika Waititi, the action movie of the week is "Thor: Ragnarok" featuring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins, Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban.

Co-written by Eric Pearson and Christopher Yost, the film follows the adventures of Thor, who is fighting to save the "Asgard" civilization.
