It does not seem possible for the opposition to defeat the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in the elections for a long time in the future. Expecting the AK Party's disintegration is only a pathetic dream. On the other hand, we live in a global world where the U.S. and the EU have the possibility to influence Turkey and keep the line of government going in the right direction. Nevertheless, the West does not want to seize this opportunity. For instance, it complains about deeds in the fields of jurisdiction and security but does not open the 23rd and 24th chapters that would enable reforms in those fields, under the supervision of the EU. Instead, a psychological war is being carried out against the AK Party, a war that is impossible to yield any result since the picture the West presents only serves to shape the perspective of Western people. It has no effect on the Turkish public. The anti-AK Party groups have already taken part in this war. And the AK Party proponents tend to have more militant inclinations.Therefore, the Western world is wasting its chance to address the AK Party with the situation at hand. But even a slight observation can indicate that the young generations of the AK Party proponents are gradually improving their relations with the West and becoming more open to Western culture. Globalization has created dramatic leaps on the levels of social norms. In terms of human rights and liberties, we now know what is right; we can make a comparison and shape our demands according to this. Meanwhile, according to the criteria of the World Bank, the middle class has risen from 20 percent to 40 percent during the AK Party period. Within this period, cities were rebuilt by considering their substructure and cultural qualities. Today, expectations from an urban life resemble the urban expectations of the EU. The AK Party governments also implemented a social convergence and peace project by establishing universities in every city. Thanks to that, many young people with different backgrounds, identities and cultures have produced a new and "hybrid" young vision by influencing each other. It is not surprising to see that this new vision is much more globalized, open to new and developing technologies, and creates a more mobile envision of live.The cities form integrity with the middle class, which sustains the cities and their children, namely university students. The critical point is that this circle comprises a large scale of AK Party proponents. The AK Party does not only represent the most rapidly developing and dynamic stratum of society, it also keeps its doors open to them and encourages them to participate in the public sphere. Such an inner mobility naturally affects the party. The new norms are introduced to the party through these young generations and the norms are also utilized as a vector of democratization within the party.This picture indicates a reality that the Western world is familiar with. Now we do not have an introverted youth who only canonizes its own culture and displays a discriminative approach towards the outside world. On the contrary, our new youth aspires to spread its own global perception and avoids submitting its own identity to the hands of others.The Western media does not see this change and the opportunities it has created. Besides, it follows editorial policies to alienate them intentionally. Due to the newsmen who do not know or understand Turkey or distort the facts intentionally, they make some impressionistic analyses that do not make any sense for most of the Turkish public. However, it is this new conservative and hybrid youth that would change the AK Party from within and settle the democracy in the party. What kind of a mentality could it serve for the Western writers to oppose this circle that comprises a major part of the public? Is it that hard to see that reducing the anti-AK Party propaganda to such levels indicates an unsound condition?
