Democratic allies of the PKK

One year ago, the PKK was going to lay down its arms, stop its revolt against Turkey and become a part of Turkish politics through the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), within the context of the resolution process. In return, Turkey would maintain its reform program, which had been ongoing for 10 years, and complete the resolution process with new reforms, such as the introduction of mother tongue-based education.

As the resolution process went on, the PKK broke the peace process by relying on its establishment in Syria. With the support of Iran and Russia and the meaningless assistance of the U.S., the PKK has begun to build castles in the air. Then the PKK returned to its classical terrorist activities of the last 30 years by shedding blood.

Indeed, the terrorist activities of the PKK constitute a 30-year-long story. In the first stage, the PKK murdered the leaders of opposition groups and then carried out raids on villages to suppress the Kurdish people through fear and terror. Up until today, the PKK has murdered around 30,000 people.

While we discussed expectations of the democratization of the PKK and its organic relations with the PYD, which have been supported by the U.S., the PKK took an inconceivable step by cooperating with nine illegal organizations.

These nine terrorist organizations are Stalinist, Leninist or Maoist. While one of them constitutes the former illegal organization of Figen Yüksekdag, the present co-chairman of the HDP, another is the marginal organization that murdered two people in its attack on the U.S. embassy. Thus, the PKK announced that it cooperates with nine other terrorist organizations in shedding blood.

It is natural that the PKK as a terrorist organization cooperates with other terrorist groups. In fact, the Kurdish people in the southeastern regions have demonstrated that they will not follow the PKK, while that terrorist organization tries to cloud its ongoing trauma through escalating the present political tension.

The following statement of Duran Kalkan is interesting: "If we will be defeated, then the democratic forces in Turkey will also be defeated."

Apart from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), the democratic forces of Turkey are composed of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), the HDP, 50 minor political parties, trade unions, civil society organizations, chambers and commodity exchanges, student organizations, and charities. Now, the CHP will not be counted as defeated when the terrorist PKK is defeated. For the HDP, however, there is such a correlation, as it has lost all its functions except legitimizing and propagating the PKK. The HDP has no authority to act differently from the will of the PKK, which has a strict Stalinist organization.

All Stalinist and Maoist groups accuse Turkey of having a fascist regime. Yet the present political power is not only religious, but also democratic. While the AK Party continues to operate through democratic mechanisms, it is also opposed to all kinds of racism and discrimination, thanks to its belief system.

The democratic forces that Duran Kalkan discussed are armed or unarmed leftist groups, which are extremely marginal in society, the HDP in total, and the CHP in part; simply because the marginal groups of the Turkish left have no vision and dream for the future of Turkey. They only have a discourse of hate through which they believe in the realization of their revolutions each spring. On the other hand, although the CHP is the founding political party of Turkey, many marginal people have recently found space in the CHP. Therefore, the PKK spokesman warns all those leftist elements with which it rubs shoulders about their common fate. Such an announcement may also serve as a threat against the government. Regardless, everyone and particularly the CHP should pay attention not to become a partner of the PKK.
