Turkey doing well against ISIS, what about the EU?

Turkey, which came under fire from Western countries for allegedly allowing militants from Europe to transit its territory and join the extremists of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), has proven that it is doing more than meets the eye.The latest news is that Turkey has caught and deported nine Indian engineers who had alleged ties with ISIS. Added to this list is the ban on more than 10,000 persons from 91 countries. Turkey has blacklisted these people through its own intelligence efforts and the recent cooperation it has started to receive from Western intelligence agencies. Thus Turkey has shut its doors on many people who could have traveled here and then moved to join ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Turkey has also caught 1,085 persons from 74 countries and deported them for alleged ISIS ties, according to Interior Minister Efkan Ala.All these reports show a serious effort on the part of Turkey as the country continues its struggle against extremism and terrorism on all fronts. So as Turkey moves to combat ISIS and stall its efforts to recruit more extremists from Europe, we feel it is time the European Union did something about the reasons why so many countries in the West became breeding grounds for deadly ISIS militants. With the growing alienation of ordinary Muslims in European countries, with Islamophobia being fueled by right wing parties across Europe and the tendency of many disgruntled Europeans to try to blame their economic deprivation on Muslims rather than the incompetence of their own governments, it is only normal that the continent has become a breeding ground for terrorists and extremists like those of ISIS and al-Qaida. Recent events have added pressure on Muslim communities across Europe, which is only a recipe for trouble. Turkey and its institutions want to help Europe out of this dilemma yet it seems no one is really interested in cooperating with Ankara on this issue. Turkey wants to help steer the Muslim communities across Europe into moderation instead of extremism. It is a fact that in many European countries Muslim youths are in the hands of extremist Muslim imams who are only fueling extremism and hatred. They are ignorant people who have nothing to do with the real values of Islam. Turkey's prescription is very clear: The Presidency of Religious Affairs (DİB) of Turkey is sending well-qualified imams to Germany, Austria and other places to preach moderation and the real values of Islam, such as "Killing a person is to kill all humanity and saving the life of an individual is equal to saving all of humanity. Forgive so that you can be forgiven. Show mercy so that the Almighty shows mercy to you. Those who display cruelty will never be shown mercy."Turkey has the ability and the means to help Europe, especially in these times of trouble. However, it is also a fact that Europe should do more and display sincerity to Ankara.
