...and now the Gülen Movement faces US public scrutiny

The Gülen Movement's media outlets are engaged in a smear campaign against Turkey at home and in the U.S. through misleading the American public into thinking that the movement is being persecuted

The attempts by the Gülen Movement to defame a highly respectable American law firm for investigating the activities of the organization in the U.S. as the legal action taken in Turkey to hand the administration of the pro-Gülen companies owned by Akın İpek to caretakers.

It would be said that action in Turkey against İpek's companies being given to caretakers, is necessary as a legal action; however, may create a misleading image of Turkey that blurs the investigation on the Gülen Movement in the U.S, just five days before the elections. Turkey should not allow the media outlets of the Gülen Movement to exploit this news to mislead the American public opinion by creating an image of the movement being the persecuted.

The Gülen Movement has already started defaming the American law company Amsterdam & Partners LPP in the strongest terms with insults and fabrications, which shows they are deeply disturbed by the investigation. Would anyone who has nothing to hide and has done nothing wrong panic like this?

The American law firm has been hired by Turkey. But their mission is not to promote the Turkish government in the U.S. but to get to the bottom of the activities of the Gülen Movement in the U.S. and that has created a furor among Gülenist ranks because they know that they are vulnerable even to a superficial investigation, let alone a deep probe. The activities of the Gülen Movement in the international arena are not transparent. There are too many ambiguities and dark areas that have to be investigated. This is exactly what the Gülenists do not want.

This is especially the case in the U.S. where the Gülen Movement has managed to infiltrate the corridors of Capitol Hill. The movement is suspected of having dished out funds for elections campaigns, has bought favors and friends. Political donations are something the American public will love to look into...

But that is not all. The charter schools run by the Gülen Movement, the way they have spread in the U.S., the fact that they employ only Turks affiliated with their movement and have allegedly abused U.S. visa regulations to bring these teachers into the U.S. will all be under public scrutiny.

They clearly fear that what the American law firm will come up with will not only dismantle the giant Gülen apparatus in the U.S. but will also force Fethullah Gülen out of the country.

Those who claim they talk about interfaith dialogue, peace and service should not use crude methods to defame others and create the image that in fact they are not what they profess to be. What they have done in Turkey is to spy on "friends," collect detrimental information about "friends" and use it as a tool of blackmail against them. Is this what people who fear the Almighty would do? But the American law firm as it faces a barrage of insults and defamatory slur is only seeing the tip of the iceberg on what people have suffered in Turkey by the militants of the Gülen Movement.

U.S. public scrutiny of the Gülen Movement is really bad news for this organization.
