For days, Kurdish nationalist Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputies have been making a lot of fuss over the dozens of wounded people who were holed up in a house now known as "number 23" in the troubled town of Cizre in southeastern Turkey where PKK terrorists have been trying to create their own liberated zone.

HDP deputies have been claiming that there were at least 20 wounded civilians in the building who needed urgent medical attention. Health authorities sent ambulances to the area to provide medical assistance but could not reach the area the building was in simply because the roads were infested with ditches dug by PKK terrorists who had booby trapped them.Whenever security forces tried to approach the building or when doctors tried to get anywhere near the buildings with ambulances they were fired upon by PKK terrorists using heavy arms.

The officials told the HDP to bring the wounded at least near the ambulances so that they could be carried away. This too was not done.

Meanwhile a massive security operation to clean the area of PKK terrorists was successful and the operation narrowed down to the building that allegedly housed the wounded. On Sunday security forces launched an attack to clear the area in a final assault and managed to enter "number 23," ending days of suspense. Yet they did not come across a single civilian, wounded or otherwise. They found 10 PKK terrorists who were all killed during the fighting.

So what came out of all this is clear. For weeks the HDP and their affiliate PKK have been using the "wounded people" yarn to create an image that the state has abandoned the poor innocent wounded civilians in Cizre and has effectively misled world opinion as well as those in Turkey who wanted to believe them.

The real picture, however, is clear. The PKK had used "number 23" and its surrounding buildings as a headquarters, it had hosted at least two leading PKK figures from PKK headquarters in the Qandil Mountains in Northern Iraq and had stashed massive arms and ammunition preparing for a major uprising in the area. Now Cizre is reportedly clear of all PKK elements just like the border town of Silopi. The reason why the HDP was creating all that fuss was the fact that it did not want the security forces to capture the two important PKK figures who were holed up there. It is clear that the PKK leaders in Qandil were so sure of success that they had the courage to send their own people into Turkey to places like Cizre as they moved to create a so-called liberated zone.

We now see the depth of the massive plot that is being foiled by the security forces and how the HDP and its leaders have been used in this process.

The operations in the Sur district of the southeastern provincial capital of Diyarbakır is underway. In about two weeks the PKK presence in Sur will also be terminated.

Turkey has paid a very heavy price in overcoming the latest PKK uprising. We have lost valuable soldiers, wives have lost their husbands, and children have lost their fathers. Turkey is mourning its dead after paying such a heavy price. Are the HDP people satisfied with what they have done?

The people voted for them to contribute to the democratic life of the country in the Nov. 1 elections. Instead they opted to help the secessionist terrorists to divide the country... Aren't they ashamed?
