But YPG has been involved in war crimes
Looking at the numerous war crimes the PYD and YPG have been involved in, it is impossible to justify the twin terrorist groups through a released report
The United Nations Syria Commission has said the Kurdish militants in northern Syria have not performed ethnic cleansing, saying the displacement of Arabs and Turkmens has been undertaken as a measure for the safety of the local villagers. But the report has admitted the People's Protection Units (YPG) did not care for the people it forced out of their homes and did not provide alternative facilities for them.
The report claims the villagers were moved from their villages as a security measure in view of the attacks by Daesh militants.
Several international observers as well as Amnesty International have reported that the Kurdish YPG and its political arm, the Marxist Democratic Union Party (PYD), which are both extensions of Turkey's secessionist PKK terrorist organization, have actually committed war crimes, which seems to contradict the U.N. Syria Commission "findings."
The report does not mention the YPG by name and only says the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had to evacuate civilians from their villages around the Tishreen Dam and Manbij because Daesh had laid booby traps and bombs that had to be cleared for the safety of these people. In the Arab village of Husseiniya near Tel Hamees, for instance, only a single house was left standing. Residents said the YPG had razed their homes in February. In Raneen, near Tal Abyad, locals said YPG forces threatened to shoot them if they failed to leave. One person said, "They told us we had to leave or they would tell the U.S. coalition that we were terrorists and their planes would hit us and our families. In Raneen, where some people were with IS [Daesh], there were lots of problems but we had nothing to do with anything." Alleged YPG threats of calling in U.S. airstrikes against villagers if they did not leave are repeated throughout the report.
YPG atrocities have continued throughout 2016 and 2017. But it is clear that the U.S. generals are clearly covering up the mess created by the Kurdish militants. It was feared that the YPG would conduct similar atrocities in and around Raqqa if they were given the chance to attack the city now held by Deash.
It is also no secret that the YPG is using child soldiers, which is a scandal. Footage recorded by the U.S. Central Command shows 15-year-old girls at the war front with the caption, "they are ready for action." Thus the U.S. has pushed itself into a role in these violations.So in view of these realities can anyone really justify any report that tries to absolve the PYD and YPG of war crimes?
