A court in Ankara ruled that the pirate convention held by the mavericks of the conservative Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in 2016 was null and void and that the changes in the party statute that were voted during that meeting were also redundant.

So the mavericks of the MHP, led by Meral Akşener, who tried to stage their own coup within the party with the alleged help of the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), which later staged the July 15 coup attempt, failed with this latest court ruling.

The mavericks that used huge finances to lure some of the MHP convention delegates assembled their party convention in a town just outside Ankara and changed the party statute that allowed a new convention to be convened to topple Devlet Bahçeli as the party leader.

The convention itself turned out to be a circus and the incident sparked a court battle between the supporters of Bahçeli and the mavericks. It also displayed the pitiful state of Turkey's judiciary before the coup. One court that was controlled by the Gülen gang ruled the convention permissible; while another that was not controlled by the Gülenists rejected the convention. The battle went on and on until the July 15 coup attempt.

Now with the judiciary back on track and run by judges that are no longer under the influence of the Gülen gang the court ruled that the convention is not binding.

This is a defeat for Meral Akşener and her associates who have since been expelled from the MHP. Of course Akşener has reacted with anger to the ruling and has said this shows the demise of the Turkish judiciary. So she means to say if court verdicts are in her favor then justice exists but if the verdict is against her then there is no justice.

This is exactly the same mentality displayed by the main opposition Republican People' Party (CHP) and its leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Kılıçdaroğlu has always shown disrespect to judiciary rulings and has even insulted Supreme Court judges. He went as far as criticizing the European Court of Human Rights verdicts.

Now Kılıçdaroğlu is marching from Ankara to Istanbul to protest the court ruling that sent CHP Deputy Enis Berberoğlu to jail for revealing state secrets and acting like a spy. Kılıçdaroğlu claims there is a lack of justice in Turkey.

The march is supposed to display Kılıçdaroğlu's loyalty to justice and the democratic system and yet it is clear he had very little regard for both. Kılıçdaroğlu has been using the same language as the coup plotters for quite some time, which is shocking. During the night of the coup he made a meager attempt to condemn the coup publicly but instead of rushing into the streets and squares like any ordinary citizen and challenging the tanks he preferred to hide in the residence of a district mayor affiliated to his party.

Now Kılıçdaroğlu is trying to win popularity by marching to Istanbul. He is trying to lure his supporters into the roads and yet we see that support for his march is rather meager.
