The holy month of Ramadan is over and we are now celebrating what we call the Ramadan holiday or Eid al-Fitr. For one straight month Muslims all over the world fasted and experienced the suffering of the hungry and felt the losses of the deprived throughout.

This was the month when Muslims were supposed to help out other Muslims in distress and with feelings of kindness and benevolence. Yet some Muslims continued to kill each other in parts of the world and Muslims in the Gulf region tried to impose an economic blockade against the people of Qatar to condemn them to hunger and depravity. All this unfortunately polluted the holy atmosphere of the month of Ramadan.

Turkey on its part did everything in its power to help its Muslims brothers and sisters that were caught in the conflicts that made life hell for those who believe in Islam.

During the month Turkish relief organizations led by the Foundation of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) organized huge iftar (fast-breaking) dinners in Turkey and throughout the world to serve the poor and the needy.

Turkey rushed relief material and foodstuffs to the people of Qatar and is continuing to do so thus eliminating the effects of the economic blockade being applied by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt and several other Arab states.

You can punish states but punishing fellow Muslims is not permitted in Islam, which is a religion that says you should not rest if you know your neighbor is suffering from hunger.

Besides all that, Turkey has continued to house more than 3 million refugees from Syria and Iraq, providing them with the best possible facilities for a period of more than five years, spending at least $25 billion for them and embracing them as a society.

Under normal circumstances in the Western countries the presence of so many migrants would have caused social and economic problems even for a short period but when these people live in your country for five years the consequences would have been devastating. Yet in Turkey this did not happen. There were some minor problems but in general the Turkish people embraced the 2.5 million migrants from Syria scattered all over the country and showed them the hospitality that the people of Medina did when our Prophet was forced to migrate from Mecca with his companions under the threat of the unbelievers.

On Friday President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was at a camp in Ceylanpınar in the southeastern border province of Şanlıurfa breaking fast with the thousands of migrants from Syria and Iraq. He highlighted Turkey's commitment to live up to the hopes of the oppressed and deprived of the world.

Turkey continues to extend a helping hand to the suffering masses of Africa, as well as sending relief to the Muslim minorities all over the world. That is why Turkey has become the rising star of the Muslim world and the source of hope for the suffering Muslim masses.

That is why Turkey and its leader are the main targets of the international effort to bring Islam into disrepute, including bringing down President Erdoğan.
