Civil war, dissolution were targeted on July 15

The July 15 insurrection was motivated by the desire to drift the country into civil war rather than to stage a coup. Therefore, this does not resemble the former coups attempted or staged. Tanks targeted civilians, helicopters opened fire and Parliament was bombed. All these assaults were not the mere reflections of a coup attempt, but rather part of a certain strategy. Their main target was President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The assassination of Erdoğan was the first and foremost step in their plans to kick off a civil war. Brigadier General Gökhan Şahin Sönmezateş, who raided the hotel in Marmaris where Erdoğan was staying, ordered his subordinates to kill Erdoğan for this reason. In addition to this, it turned out that the uniformed militants also planned to kill imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is incarcerated in the prison on İmralı Island.
The goal was to turn Turkey into a religious-secular inferno, which would be the center of the Turkish-Kurdish conflict. Simultaneous attacks by the PKK, DAESH and Revolutionary People's Liberation Party Front (DHKP-C) terrorist groups, the Gülenist Terror Organization's (FETÖ) occupying movement that beleaguered state institutions from the inside, the latest deadly coup attempt and foreign and domestic media outlets' perception operations regarding Turkey are all components of the same strategy. None of them is coincidental and the danger is not yet gone. Consequently, we must keep guard and watch over our democracy.
