Why is Turkey a target?

We are going through the first global war of the 21st century, of which Turkey is the focus. The July 15 coup attempt was a move to drag Turkey into a civil war and destabilization.

As a matter of fact, those concentrating on global processes were not expecting a war against Turkey so soon. The reason for it is undoubtedly the disturbance of the global forces from the improvements and new politics of Turkey led by the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Particularly after 2013, this stance has disturbed the global forces to such an extent that assaults from both inside and outside were kicked off, climbing to unimaginable levels. Some might argue why global forces would declare a war on Turkey considering its contribution to the world economy. But this is not true since Turkey's historic importance and potential to influence the Islamic world is widely known. And no one underestimates this potential.

It would be useful to mention a book that was penned seven years ago. The author of the book is George Friedman, who is the founder of Stratfor, which is known as a shadow CIA that also released the route of Erdoğan's plane during the night of July 15.

In his book titled "The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century," which was published in 2009, Turkey's position is also evaluated. Asserting that a crisis will arise in the Caucasus region between Russia and the U.S. by the year 2020, Friedman argues that Russia will enter a period of collapse, while Turkey will maintain its influence in the region it is located until then, and the U.S. will support Turkey throughout this process.

So, what will happen next? The answer to this question shows that the current conflicts have been moved to an earlier time.

"The U.S. is afraid of regional hegemonies. The U.S. does not wish to confront both regional and global rivals and will start to look at Turkey from this perspective after a period. During the 2020s, U.S.-Turkish relations will increasingly give rise to a disturbance.

"During the 2030s, the U.S. will regard Turkey as a threat to its regional interests. As a result, the U.S. will adopt a stance against Turkey, a country seen as a potential Islamic state. After this period, the U.S. will run cautionary policies against the power of Turkey."

These findings were not just confined to reports and books. Through the Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ), of which the ground was laid by global forces about 40 years ago, they were implemented by means of a violent plot. However, millions of people resisted the bullets, bombs and tanks and did not allow them to succeed.

Now the question is: what will happen next? Will global forces continue their occupying activities or will they seek an agreement after seeing that they did not achieve their goals.

Since the first option is more likely, Erdoğan wants people to keep on guarding democracy in public squares. Experts also agree that the danger has not yet completely passed regardless of the form of the situation.

For instance, former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds has spoken of the possibility of another coup attempt on the grounds of the baseless claim that the nuclear weapons at İncirlik Air Base and other NATO bases will be handed over to DAESH. Also, some argue that a coup can be made through the economy. No matter what they plan, they will be confronted with the Turkish public, who created a myth of democracy on July 15. But we must bear in mind that Turkey has shouldered a different mission not only for its own future but as part of an endeavor to be "the voice of justice and compassion" all across the world

Therefore, they will not leave us in peace for a while. We must bear it in mind and get ready for the future like a marathon runner.
