In contrast, the agenda always presses upon politicians, especially those taking over responsibilities.If Kissinger had lived in Turkey and had an occupation that was not related to politics, could he have determined his own agenda himself?Here in Turkey, there is such an overwhelming, depressing and busy agenda, that it is impossible not to be affected by it, even though you only take part in politics by voting. Is it possible to ignore the humanitarian tragedies taking place with our southern neighbors, or the plots set against democratically-elected politicians by illegal organizations?A transition periodYou might be absorbed in this local and geographical agenda, and fail to notice that the world is in a transition period both politically and economically. You might not see how the "post-modern cold war" influences oil prices with dramatic reductions, and how the EU, as an economic cooperation organization, is in bed with NATO, a military organization, against Russia due to the Ukraine issue. Or, you might miss the fact that public opinion in the U.S. is becoming more right-wing day by day, and an atmosphere is gradually being formed which will facilitate the rise of a conservative president like Reagan.Of course there is also the new world introduced via the Internet, which is one of the leading peculiarities of our "information age." Information or news is served from such varying sources, and with such a range of motivations that it is not easy to determine which one is right or true.The most recent instance is the detaining of a number of members of the press as part of an official investigation.Which one is right?If you get the news on this subject via sources affiliated with the "Pennsylvania Organization," you can see they highlight that freedom of the press is under threat. Both judicial sources and those intervening in the incidents constantly underline that the issue is different. According to this, the "Pennsylvania Organization" caused people who do not think like them to be arrested, by using their own media and the prosecutors and police affiliated with them, organizing a conspiracy against them. When the other activities of the organization reflected in public are considered, one thinks: "actually, the real deep state is controlled by them."After all that, one might say "Fortunately we have a transparent and democratic regime. The final decision will be given by public common-sense. If only the 2015 elections would arrive as soon as possible."
