Terrorist in Germany, journalist in Turkey

As long as the EU remains under the influence of the manipulations against Turkey based on false data, lies and propaganda, not only will EU-Turkey relations be harmed, but the credibility of the EU will also be undermined. Last week, we witnessed an example of such a manipulation basing on false data and lies. Some European Parliament (EP) deputies, who took the floor to speak on the "EP Progress Report on Turkey" during its first session at the Foreign Affairs Commission of the EP, made some claims alleging that Turkey supports the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) without showing a basis or credible source. Those deputies, who spoke only to speak out against Turkey, actually displayed that they are not familiar with the issue. However, during the same days in Davos, French President François Hollande was self-critical and expressed that they were mistaken as to the level terrorism has reached today. Hollande also said that 10,000 out of 40,000 foreign terrorists in ISIS are from EU countries. If those taking the floor at the EP had studied it they could have learned that Turkey banned 7,000 people from 80 countries from entering the country as part of the fight against ISIS and terrorism in general, let alone passing to Syria to join ISIS. There are 7,000 people not allowed in Turkey.Turkey rightfully criticizes EU countries on that matter. While the U.K., Germany or France complain about how many people from their countries have joined ISIS forces in Syria, they conceal from their own public that they actually caused this situation themselves. If the intelligence institutions of some EU countries had cooperated with Turkish intelligence when the terrorists they tracked left their countries, maybe thousands of "foreign fighters" could have been detained in Turkey and returned to their homelands. For some reason, certain EP deputies insist on closing their eyes to this fact. However, can the interests of the EU be protected by clinging to lies only to stand against Turkey or supporting the effective fight against terrorism? This is the question that needs to be answed. Lately, there is another favored lie that is used in both the EP Foreign Affairs Commission sessions and in "anti-Turkey" statements. In order to spread this lie, members of the "parallel structure" that have journalist IDs but in fact exploit the ethics of journalism, are involved in every kind of activity in the corridors of the EP and at the gates of other EU institutions. These people, who manipulate Islam for their mafia-esque organization, are getting more furious as they are not reaching their aim to collapse democracy in Turkey, and they particularly try to market their lies in the EU capital of Brussels. Those mafia offsets of the "parallel structure," which interestingly can only take shelter in Brussels now, and which messed with every kind of illegal and violent activity including their alleged role in the murder of the Turkish-Armenian intellectual Hrant Dink, now try to provoke the EU by saying that there are imprisoned journalists in Turkey and the freedom of the press is at stake.Their only aim is to cast doubt on the parliamentary elections that are to be held on June 7 through the EU. The EU and EP should not be deceived by them.Seventy-seven million people in Turkey are upset by the fact that the EU and EP are becoming the tools of a political mafia from Turkey, which is about to be eradicated. And their latest lie is that "there are seven imprisoned journalists in Turkey."When we look at the 2014 Press Report issued by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on December 17, 2014, we see that this claim is a baseless, unethical lie.According to the report, there are six people in prison and none of them has a yellow press card, which means they are not journalists. And none of them were tried or penalized due to an article or story they wrote. One of these so-called journalists is a member of an organization that is banned by Germany's Federal Prosecution Office and has been strictly tracked by security units for years. This person is serving a life sentence for robbery, bombing and murder. The second is again a member of an organization that is recognized as a terrorist group in the annual intelligence reports of EU countries. And this person is also serving a life sentence for the charges of robbery, plundering and planting explosive materials. The third is charged for the offences of murder and organizing an armed attack against police. The fourth was sentenced to 19 years and nine months due to illegal activities in a group recognized as a terrorist organization in EU countries. The fifth was sentenced to 12 years for throwing Molotov cocktails and organizing an armed attack on security forces. The sixth was arrested for allegedly providing logistical services and enabling terrorists to join a terrorist organization and is currently being tried. As can be seen, those so-called journalists, about whom they make a fuss, are no different to the Red Army Faction (RAF) militants, who shed blood in Germany in the past, or the terrorist Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, also known as Carlos the Jackal, who troubled France for years. Is it not rightful and fair to expect from the EU to not be manipulated by such games anymore? How could a person who is recognized as a terrorist in Germany be regarded as a journalist in Turkey? The EU must behave honestly on this matter not only for Turkey, but also for its own credibility and to protect the merits that constitute the EU.
