Manage to protect Muslims in your own countries first

Some EU countries, particularly Germany, discovered Armenians last week. If Armenians were really important to Germany, they would not have waited until 2015 to use the word genocide. If Armenians had been subjected to genocide during the late Ottoman period as claimed by German politicians, Germans would be the ones that must know the best. Germany, which led the Ottoman Empire to join World War I by influencing Enver Pasha, was also aware of what was happening on the Russian front. Undoubtedly they also know of the Armenian rioters that joined Russian forces with Ottoman uniforms and weapons and their massacres of Turks. The documents in German archives must be quite intriguing. For some reason, those calling Turkey to open its archives do not open their own. But German, British and French archives must have many significant documents on that subject. Especially the roles of Germany, France and Britain would be relevant in that case. However, there must be some issues that prevent those archives from being shared. Those countries are attentive not to share their secrets regarding those years with the public.Turkey has been ready to open its archives at least for the last decade. Turkey always suggests it and Armenia conduct mutual studies by involving historians from both countries. But Armenia has ignored this call. When archives are opened, the massacres of Dashnaks and the state support of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) have received could be unveiled. While Turkey announces that it is ready to open even its military archives, those calling on Turkey to open its archives never mention their own, which is a case that should be questioned by the public of EU countries. Why does the German public not question Germany's role had there really been genocide during the late Ottoman period? As Turkey becomes more democratized and developed and grows economically, EU countries seem to completely forget their own history and increase the dose of their assaults on Turkey with baseless claims. No one addresses the Armenians in Turkey, assuming that they know everything better than Armenians since their actual concern is not Armenians. They feel threatened by the modern, social, democratic and powerful new Turkey. But those harshly criticizing Turkey should firstly manage to provide security of life and property for the Muslims living in their countries, and maybe then the Turkish public could pay attention to them.If only German President Joachim Gauck considered the Turks living in Germany and Turkish-German citizens of his country as much as he considered Armenians.According to data announced by the German Ministry of the Interior, in January and February 2015, a total of 445 hate crimes against foreigners were committed. Sixty of them included excessive violence and 46 people were injured as a result of them. Only nine out of 228 suspects were detained and only one of them was arrested. Interestingly, the suspects can freely move in the places where Turks and Muslims live.2014 data no different either. In 2014, a total of 2,207 assaults on foreigners were committed with 316 of them including excessive violence and 272 people injured as a result. Only 32 of 1,544 suspects were detained and only three of them were arrested. In addition, while suspects are generally caught with a 50 percent probability in Germany, the rate for hate crimes against foreigners is only 10 percent.More interestingly, the people targeted by neo-Nazi attacks in Germany are generally Muslims or refugees.Within recent months, the number of arson attempts targeting refugee houses where Muslim refugees are the majority has also increased. In other words, as Stern writer Hans-Ulrich Jörges puts it, the National Socialist Underground (NSU) is everywhere. He also alleges that some German police officers are members of the German iteration of the Ku Klux Klan.Just a look at Germany is enough to see that conditions are quite harsh for Muslims. While even Muslims and Turks living in Germany have concerns about their life and property, the president of the country has made a heinous claim based on highly disputable allegations of Turkey, the homeland of 3 million Turkish-Germans citizens. This act offended Turks living in Germany and Turkish-German citizens of Germany. The situation is no different in France or Austria. It is not sincere for those who failed to protect Muslims in their countries and face their own past to attempt calling Turkey and Turks to account. We can respect them if they do not use Armenians as an excuse and honestly admit that they are worried over the presence of a new Turkey.
