The lie suggesting that the PKK fights ISIS
In the EU capital Brussels and in capital cities of EU countries, people on the streets have been bombarded with propaganda persuading them to believe a lie for days.
My German neighbor keeps asking me why Turkey is bombing the PKK, which fights against the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS ), since he sincerely believes that the PKK, which is an outlawed organization involved in terrorist activities, is really fighting against ISIS.
A Belgian journalist even went further to ask: "Is it right to bomb [the PKK] only because they killed several police officers?"
A dear friend of mine who is a former deputy in Germany's Hesse Federal Republic asked: "How reasonable is it to bomb the PKK? We need them to fight against ISIS." In brief, I have been hearing the same statements over and over again in Brussels and various cities in Belgium and Germany for two weeks: "Does Turkey have to bomb the PKK, which is fighting ISIS?"
Throughout Europe, the propaganda to undermine Turkey is going on so intensely that one cannot get angry at those who believe this lie, because when they wake up in the morning, they are exposed to the lies suggesting that the Turks are bombing Kurds, as opposed to the PKK, on television when they are having breakfast. During the day they have to listen to the claims that Turkey attacks the PKK, which is fighting against ISIS, on hourly radio news while in their cars. In the daily newspapers they read, the rubbish claiming that Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president of the Republic of Turkey, has declared war on the PKK in order to win the elections is presented in review pages. In the evening, they are once again exposed to some rubbish on the news that claims Turkey supports ISIS and attacks the PKK in this respect.
The Europeans, most of whom have never visited Turkey, who do not have any idea of to what extent the Turkish people have suffered from PKK terrorism, who cannot make any distinction between Kurds and the PKK, and who assume Turkey to be a cavalcade of representing Kurds as lesser and oppressed Indians with ignorant romanticism, would probably review the incidents with a black and white political perspective comprising only the two poles of bad Turks and good Kurds.
No technique of brainwashing can be better than that.
Especially when the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ head to Brussels or Cologne and beg for help, claiming that they are the representatives of the oppressed Kurds, and wish for a great and perfect Europe to impose pressure on Turkey to save the PKK, the picture is complete.
However, there is a significant fact that our European addressees cannot grasp or do not want to grasp: The PKK is an outlawed organization engaging in violent terrorist activities and it does not actually have a major problem with ISIS, which is another dangerous terrorist organization.
The PKK has never battled against ISIS anywhere else other than Syria's Kobani district so far. And it is a great lie that it provides guerilla aid to its Syrian wing, the Democratic Union Party (PYD). They have been fighting only because their ways crossed in Kobani. In other areas of Syria and Iraq seized by ISIS, the PKK has never appeared on the scene. And apart from the time when northern Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) peshmerga units battled ISIS in Kobani, we have never witnessed a case in which the PKK was in solidarity with KRG peshmerga forces.
In Syria, when the PYD entered a clash of interest with ISIS by cooperating with Syria's dictatorial president, Bashar Assad, in order to seize the north of Syria, the PKK naturally supported it since the actual concern of the PKK has never been ISIS terror. The only concern of the PKK was Turkey.
The PKK has always benefited from ISIS's terrorist activities and violent war in charge of the dismemberment of Syria and Iraq.
Thanks to ISIS, they settled in a wide area of land until Turkish aircraft hit them in northern Iraq. The PKK was busy reinforcing itself while ISIS was fighting peshmerga forces, Turkmens and the Iraqi army.
Likewise, while ISIS was maintaining a violent war against the Free Syrian Army and Turkmens in Syria, the PKK was only observing the incidents contently.
ISIS nearly acted as a secret ally of the PKK as long as it did not cause any harm to the PKK, and it is still so to a certain extent.
Our European addressees, who are naive or very smart depending on their interests, should know that no-one in the war zones in Syria, Iraq and Turkey believes the lie that the PKK plays a great role in fighting against ISIS. If they do not believe us, they can speak with Syrian refugees.
Also, it would be useful to ponder the fact that the U.S., which pays attention to the fight against ISIS, sides with Turkey in its war against the PKK. If the PKK really battled against ISIS and was useful in this respect, the U.S. would protect the organization first.
Especially those who give pedantic advice to Turkey such as "the reconciliation process should continue," "peace should be urgently introduced" and "dialogue with the PKK should go on," must keep in mind that it was not Turkey that ended the reconciliation process. The PKK, which actually did not favor the process from the very beginning, ended it by restarting its terrorist activities.
The PKK, which took up arms, trained new terrorists and positioned both inside and outside Turkey by exploiting Turkey's goodwill during the reconciliation process, counter-attacked Turkey by believing that it was time to make use of the point that was reached in Syria and Iraq thanks to ISIS.
Now I would like to ask them if the PKK members killed military and police officers every day in Germany, Belgium, the U.K. or France, if they organized terrorist activities to sabotage the substructure of these countries, would they put up with the incidents and remain indifferent? Or, would British aircraft taking off from the bases located on Cyprus hit the PKK war barons in the Qandil Mountains where the PKK headquarters are situated?
We only wish Europeans to be fair.
When another country or people is exposed to something that they do not wish to experience, they should not hide behind lies.
Even though supporting Turkey does not serve their purposes, they should at least display the honesty to accept the fact that the PKK, which is another violent terrorist organization that has caused thousands of deaths so far, is not different from ISIS at all.
