On Saturday, dozens of people in Turkey were killed in yet another terror attack, and the DAESH terrorists once again proved that they are inhumane butchers. This time, the target was a group of people attending a wedding ceremony in the province of Gaziantep. While wedding guests, many of them children, were enjoying a family wedding, they fell victim to the latest suicide bomb attack.

This terror attack, like others before, was condemned by world leaders, with politicians and prominent figures once again cursing terrorism, calling attention to the importance of the counter-terrorism fight.

We do not hold their statements against them. They did the right thing and expressed the proper response to the tragedy. However, the counter-terrorism fight cannot be conducted with words alone. Condemning alone does not stop terrorism.

The Turkish people now expect both the U.S. and the EU to take genuine steps to with regard to the fight against terrorism. Following the atrocious July 15 coup attempt, neither the U.S. nor the EU did anything to reprimand the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ). Is this how the counter-terrorism fight is supposed to be?

FETÖ leader Fethullah Gülen continues to freely direct terrorist activity from his headquarters in the U.S. Although his premeditated co-ordination of the coup attempt on July 15 was certainly known by the intelligence agencies of many leading countries beforehand, including the U.S., the required steps for his extradition are being postponed using a wide range of excuses. In the U.S., the justice system and security units which operate swiftly in the face of terrorism or espionage cases are, for some reason, operating at a snail's pace when it comes to FETÖ.

The situation is no different in EU countries. FETÖ representatives can freely issue statements through media outlets in EU countries and spread their Gülenist propaganda, as if they were innocent spokesmen for non-governmental organizations (NGOs). It is scandalous for the EU to allow the representatives of a terrorist group whose junta terrorized Turkey and which showed blatant disregard for the democratic values that the EU claims to uphold.

In Germany, there are still active FETÖ schools, where terrorists are trained and effectively brainwashed. However, we bore witness to how those brainwashed at these schools can murder people from behind their army uniforms, as F-16 pilots, helicopter pilots, tank drivers and snipers killed dozens of people.

The terrorist group is not content with only brainwashing the members of these schools. Many associations and foundations also operate in support of FETÖ. Just as in Turkey, they engage in shady activities in EU countries, bribing journalists and politicians to further their aims to infiltrate the Turkish state.

FETÖ is unfortunately still being protected, despite posing a great threat to the future of Turkey and the EU. Following the latest terror attack in Gaziantep, during the funerals of the victims, the militants of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), the party that advocates on behalf of the outlawed PKK terrorist organization, provoked people to take to the streets. The heinous attack in Gaziantep aimed to spark ethnic conflict, and the PKK immediately came into play and attempted to spread terror, even at the funerals of the victims of terrorism.

The PKK plays an active role in the realization of such inhumane plans, killing dozens of people in Turkey in just the past week. The U.S. and the EU still do nothing more than verbally condemning the PKK's terror attacks, instead of contributing to the fight against the PKK.

The weapons provided by the U.S. and some EU countries to the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Syrian offshoot of the PKK, are used by PKK militants in terrorist attacks across Turkey. In other words, the weapons provided to the PYD are covered beneath the lie that "the PYD fights against DAESH," which is used as an excuse to ignore the Turkish police and army, who fight against all the terrorist groups, including DAESH.

Despite this, the PKK and the PYD are free purveying their propaganda in EU countries. They spread the propaganda of these organizations through exhibitions, setting up tents in front of the European Parliament and organizing marches and rallies in various European countries; particularly in Germany and Belgium. EU countries are mere spectators to the atrocities committed by the PKK and the PYD, which allow them to raid TV stations in Germany and Austria, threaten people of Turkish origin in cities when they organize protests, and pose a danger to the EU countries through their illegal networking methods.

These terrorist groups – FETÖ, the PKK, PYD and DAESH – continue to kill innocent people, and most of the time cooperating with one another.

Where the counter-terrorism fight is concerned, the U.S. and the EU are content to condemn all terrorist groups, but this contradicts their active fight against DAESH where they work with the PYD. The country that maintains the largest-scale fight against DAESH is Turkey. The DAESH terrorist threat cannot be annihilated until a fight is conducted against FETÖ, the PKK and the PYD altogether. Without an all-encompassing war against terrorism, violent terror activities cannot be prevented.

The EU and the U.S. must stop hiding behind their messages of condemnation, and start fighting against the terrorist groups that they condemn.
