Erdoğan's visit to Africa marks a new approach
Accompanied by nearly 130 business figures, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid a second visit to the East African countries of Uganda, Kenya and Somalia following a recent visit to Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Guinea in West Africa.
Key ministers accompanied Erdoğan on the visits, including Deputy Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, as well as figures from Turkey's humanitarian institutions such as Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TİKA) head Serdar Çam and Kerem Kınık of the Turkish Red Crescent were among the Turkish delegation.
Following centuries-long Western policies, African states are currently experiencing a post-modern style of Western colonialism.
Theoretically, the Western world's colonialism is over, but it now has a sharper colonialist policy thanks to the technological development of our age, which colonizes public opinion.
Still, the resources from these countries are the Western world's main concern, and not the people living in these states.
Erdoğan, however, initiated a new approach toward African countries since the beginning of his mandate first as a prime minister and later as a president.
Based on the principles of the prosperity of the people of these countries, Erdoğan is engaging in well-prepared humanitarian diplomacy toward African countries.
Initially, the number of Turkey's diplomatic missions on the continent was tripled. And Ankara has a goal to open diplomatic missions in all 54 African countries.
Personally encouraged by Erdoğan , businessmen are also searching for ways to develop business opportunities in these countries.
The poverty in these countries and the people's standard of living is a prior concern for Turkey, as humanitarian aid, health and education will be the main ground of work. Ankara will continue to take further steps to ensure the security of these countries
