Turkish defense firm HAVELSAN to open office in Qatar's Doha

Turkey's air defense and software company HAVELSAN will open its first Middle East office in Qatar, a country that is one of its strategic partners.

HAVELSAN Deputy General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar stated that the company's office that is to be opened in the Qatari capital aims to monitor the company's projects in Doha.

HAVELSAN officials are conducting consultation talks with the Qatari authorities related to technical training and marine systems within the scope of the HAVELSAN's activities. Nacar underscored that the Turkish air defense company has been collaborating with Qatar since 2013.

The cooperation with the company focuses on cyber security, information technologies, command control systems, and training and simulation technologies. Previously, HAVELSAN produced a helicopter simulator for the Qatari Air Forces to offer training that is equivalent to a real life flight experience under all weather conditions, and they will soon start using it. The simulator enables pilots to test all kinds of operations and situations encountered in the air. It can also test pilots' abilities by replicating all kinds of weather conditions.

HAVELSAN is active in the areas of software intensive systems, and has focused on Air Defense, Naval Combat, Simulation and Training and Management Information Systems, Energy Management Systems and Homeland Security within the context of Command and Control Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems (C4ISR).

The company previously had cooperation deals with companies based in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Iraq, Malaysia and a long-time partnership with U.S.-based aviation companies Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
