Former Israeli ambassador’s book shows photo of Netanyahu apologizing to Erdoğan


A new book by Michael Oran, who served as the Israeli Ambassador to the United States between 2009 and 2013, has revealed diplomatic details of the pressure put on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the Mavi Marmara flotilla raid in May 2010 and urged Netanyahu to better relations with Turkey. According to the book, which Oren titled 'Ally', Clinton insists that this is a personal matter for U.S. President Barack Obama, and it also shows a photo of Netanyahu and Obama sitting across from each other. Netanyahu was apologizing to Turkey's Prime Minister at the time, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a phone conversation in the photo, over the Mavi Marmara raid according to the book, in which nine Turkish citizens were killed by the Israeli military,. Obama, addressed the current president of Turkey, Erdoğan, as 'his friend' during the conversation with Netanyahu, the book has said.
