President Erdoğan to visit Brussels, discuss Syrian crisis, Cyprus

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pay a visit to the European Union capital Brussels on Sunday to discuss bilateral relations, as well as the Syrian refugee crisis, with several senior officials.Erdoğan will have a meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk, European Parliament President Martin Schulz and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. It is expected that Erdoğan will talk about the humanitarian activities that Turkey has undertaken regarding the Syrian refugee crisis and border security, pointing out that European countries have to share a burden that is too great to be shouldered by a single country. Ankara stresses that the crisis cannot be solved completely because the Assad regime is still present in the country and along with financial support for the countries hosting refugees, European countries must take them on a humanitarian basis, disregarding their career or religious status. He will also discuss the urgency of opening new chapters as part of negotiations with the EU.
