Italian Horizons for 2016 unveiled in Ankara


Italian ambassador to Ankara Luigi Mattiolo announced the details of the cultural, political and economic events in 2016 that are part of the program Italian Horizons for 2016. Italian Horizons is an annual organization that aims to promote closer relations between the two countries with various events that take place throughout in a year.During the program, Mattiolo spoke of the importance of cultural events that Italian institutions working in Turkey are planning to organize to improve the relationship between Turkey and Italy. "The next year will be a wealthy year in terms of appointments with Italy because there will be events on music, cinema, figurative art, archaeology, ways for improving economic relations and investment opportunities," he said.Mattiolo, who has been working in Ankara for a year, underlined the "brilliant" relations between Turkey and Italy. He also spoke of a possible official meeting between both governments in 2016 and added that Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni is planning to visit Ankara in February. Touching on Ankara's EU negotiation process, Mattiolo stressed that regardless of political views all political parties in Italy have always been supportive of Turkey's EU bid and said that Turks will have the chance to get to know Europe better after the completion of the visa liberalization process.
