PM Yıldırım: Turkey's ties with Germany will not be destroyed, necessary response will be given

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Friday that relations between Turkey and Germany will not break down, but the necessary response will be given to Germany, which adopted a controversial resolution recognizing the 1915 events as genocide. Speaking to reporters at Ankara's Esenboğa Airport before an official visit to Azerbaijan, Yıldırım said that Turkey and Germany are important allies, and that nobody should expect relations between the two countries to completely deteriorate. "However, this should not mean that Turkey will not react or say anything against this."Resolution will harm ties, only mp who voted against it saysBettina Kudla, the only German lawmaker who voted against the resolution on the 1915 events in Thursday's vote, said German parliament's decision will harm relations between Germany and Turkey. "It is not the task of German parliament to give historical assessments of the events in another state,'' the lawmaker from Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) said in German on her Twitter account, adding that the political and financial results of the decision cannot be predicted and are likely to harm relations with Turkey, including the current migrant deal, which is of key importance for Germany. Kudla said that the new development is saddening, particularly as it jeopardizes the migrant deal while Europe is already struggling to find a common solution to resolve the refugee crisis.
