British FM calls Çavuşoğlu, congratulates Euphrates Shield operation

U.K. Foreign Minister Boris Johnson called Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Wednesday evening to congratulate Turkey on the successful operation launched against the DAESH terrorist organization in Syria.

During Johnson's phone call to Çavuşoğlu, the foreign minister informed his British counterpart about operation Euphrates Shield led by Turkey, launched yesterday to liberate the area around the north Syrian town of Jarablus from DAESH and other terrorist groups.

Johnson conveyed to Çavuşoğlu British condolences for the civilians who died in a DAESH suicide bomb attack in Gaziantep on Aug. 20, which left 54 people dead and 94 others injured. Both parties agreed on the importance of cooperation in the fight against terror, as well as strengthening existing cooperation.
