Turkey's Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned the attacks carried out in Syria's Idlib province, which resulted in the deaths of over 20 civilians, most of whom are children on Wednesday.

"This attack has shown once again the urgency for a ceasefire to be established nationwide in Syria," the statement said and added that Turkey urges the international community to focus on such efforts and show that the perpetrators of these crimes cannot toss aside responsibility.

Air strikes that hit a school in opposition-held Idlib province in northwest Syria killed 22 children, the UN children's agency UNICEF said Wednesday.

In recent months, Idlib, a hub for moderate opposition fighters, has been the target of air bombardment.
