Turkey has condemned Thursday's blast in Pakistan's northeastern city of Lahore, which killed nine people, and injured dozens.

In a statement published late Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said Turkey expresses solidarity with the "friendly and brotherly people and Government of Pakistan."

Ankara also reaffirmed its support for Islamabad in the fight against terrorism.

"Our countries will resolutely fight against terrorism and will strengthen cooperation in the area," the ministry said.

Pakistan in recent weeks has been hit by several terror attacks. On Feb. 13, a suicide bomber killed more than 20 people during a demonstration in Lahore, Pakistan's second largest city. On Feb. 16, a suicide blast at a Sufi shrine in Sindh province left 88 people dead.
