President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with leaders of six countries Tuesday as part of Turkey's efforts to peacefully resolve the crisis in the Gulf region.

According to presidential sources, Erdoğan held phone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

The president's calls highlighted the resolution of regional problems through dialogue and diplomacy, sources noted.

Erdoğan also noted that Turkey is ready to provide all types of support to reduce tension.

Separately, Erdoğan voiced his disapproval of the sanctions on Qatar at a fast-breaking iftar dinner organized by the Justice and Development (AK Party) in the capital Ankara later in the day.

"I want to clearly say that we disapprove of the sanctions on Qatar," he said adding "these developments, coming at a time when we need solidarity and cooperation more than ever, are no good for any country in the region."

President Erdoğan had previously spoken with Russian, Qatari, Saudi Arabian and Kuwaiti leaders regarding the issue, the sources added.Turkey called for dialogue after several countries cut their diplomatic relations with Qatar in an effort to solve problems peacefully. Experts think that the move is an attempt to outmaneuver Doha and cut down its regional influence.

Turkey has repeatedly called for dialogue after several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and one of the three governments in Libya cut their diplomatic relations with Qatar.
