Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain's charge d'affaires in Ankara on Monday to discuss the ongoing Qatar row.

Çavuşoğlu's meeting with Saudi envoy Walid Bin Abdul Karim El Khereiji, UAE envoy Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar and Bahraini charge d'affaires Komail Ahmed came ahead of the regular cabinet meeting on Monday.

The meeting also came after Bahraini Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa's visit to Ankara on Saturday.

Çavuşoğlu informed the diplomats of Turkey's and the international community's expectations during the meeting, including his talks with officials from third parties regarding the conflict in Gulf region.

As part of its efforts to ease tension in the Gulf region, Ankara has called on all parties to come to a common solution and overcome differences to avoid a sectarian crisis in the region, which would put all countries in danger.

Effective June 5, Bahrain, Comoros, Egypt, Maldives, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Yemen's internationally backed government and one of Libya's three governments cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar amid accusations that the Gulf nation is funding militant groups. Several other Muslim nations also downgraded their diplomatic ties with Qatar. In addition, the countries also issued a list of 59 individuals and 12 charity groups in Qatar accused of having links to terrorism.

Turkish officials criticized the measures imposed against Qatar and called for a diplomatic solution to the crisis, including the offer for Turkey to play a mediatory role.
