Turkey, Azerbaijan launch joint military exercise


Turkish and Azerbaijani armed forces launched joint military exercises with on Monday as part of the efforts between the two nations to bolster cooperation in every area, including defense.

The exercises took place in Nakhichevan, an exclave of Azerbaijan, and are the latest in a series of joint military drills by the neighboring states.

According to a statement released by the Azerbaijani defense ministry, the drill was in line with previous agreements signed between the two countries.

The maneuvers are expected to end on Friday.

In 2015, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed a memorandum of understanding in a bid to enhance peace, welfare and stability in the region.
