Turkey appoints 21 envoys to foreign missions


The appointments of 21 ambassadors to Turkey's foreign missions appeared in the country's Official Gazette.

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım received the newly appointed ambassadors on Friday at Çankaya Palace and wished them success in their new posts, underlining the importance of their duty as envoys of Turkey at the missions abroad.

According to the published list, the new ambassadors have been appointed to 21 countries and 17 are to return to the Foreign Ministry. The list includes politically appointed ambassadors, including Abdülkadir Emin Önen and Hasan Murat Mercan. Mercan has been appointed to Japan.

Koytak has been appointed ambassador to Kuwait, becoming the first Turkish female ambassador to be appointed to an Arab country outside of the Foreign Ministry and Önen has been appointed to the People's Republic of China.
