The foreign ministry condemned the deadly attack at a church in Texas, U.S., which left 26 people dead and over 20 wounded.

"We strongly condemned the attack and offer condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and the American people" the foreign ministry said in the statement.

A 26-year-old gunman, identified as Devin Kelley, carried out a mass shooting at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, wearing tactical gear and a ballistic vest, reports said.

Those killed in the attack included children as young as five years old and elderly.

The attack sent shockwaves in the small town, and took place five weeks after the Las Vegas concert attack, deemed to be the worst shooting in modern U.S. history.
