Turkish and Brazilian ambassadors have underscored the necessity of forging better and stronger bilateral ties to accomplish much more in various areas.

Speaking at a ceremony held by the Brazilian Embassy in Ankara on Wednesday for the 128th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic in Brazil, Brazilian Ambassador to Ankara Eduardo Gradilone said, "New renovated premises will better reflect the importance of the relations between Brazil and Turkey."

Stressing that Brazil and Turkey will celebrate 160 years of formal diplomatic relations next year, the Brazilian ambassador said the embassy is planning an intensive and extensive schedule of events to mark the occasion.

Gradilone asserted that the embassy will organize "concerts, presentations, round tables and conferences on topics of interest for Brazil and Turkey."

Noting that Brazil is back on track after its economic crisis, it will "resume several bilateral projects that began in 2010 under our strategic partnership, particularly in the economic, trade and investments areas."

The Brazilian envoy said the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) sent a delegation to Brazil last week.

"Let's consider tonight the restart of a process that will take us back to the best moments in our bilateral relationship," he said.

Also speaking at the occasion, İnan Özyıldız, the director general for bilateral political affairs and Turkish ambassador, said Brazil is one of the countries with which "we have the most advanced relations and our biggest trade partner among the Latin America countries."

Özyıldız explained that the bilateral travel volume between the two countries amounted to $2.1 billion last year. He said Ankara believes "we will experience a growth and increase in our trade volume and economic relations once more with our Brazilian friends."
