Youth unemployment in Turkey is 15.5 percent, much better than the average of 23.1 percent recorded among 18 eurozone members, according to the European Statistics Office. According to the data announced by the European Statistics Office, among the countries that have higher youth unemployment rates than Turkey, are countries such as Italy and France that have more developed economies than Turkey. Turkey has lower youth unemployment rates than 13 countries in the eurozone. In the European Union, which has 28 members, only six countries have lower youth unemployment rates. Along with Germany, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands and Austria, only Denmark in the EU has a lower youth unemployment rate than Turkey at around 12.6 percent. One of the leading economies in the EU, the United Kingdom, is facing youth unemployment of around 17.9 percent, which is again higher than Turkey. Sweden also has a higher youth unemployment rate than Turkey.In terms of unemployment rates, Turkey again has lower rates than the eurozone and the EU while the unemployment rate on average in the eurozone is around 11.5 percent and 10.2 percent in the EU; Turkey currently has around 9 percent unemployment.
