Turkey's industrial production expands 2.2 pct in September

In September, Turkey's industrial production expanded by a calendar-adjusted 2.2 percent compared with the same month last year, announced the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on Monday. The sub sectors of industry, mining and quarrying index increased by 8.9 percent, the manufacturing index increased by 1.1 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 6.4 percent in September 2014, compared with the same month last year, TÜİK announced.Seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production, on the other hand, increased by 1.7 percent compared with the previous month, maintaining a growth trend since June. The September figure is the weakest annual increase since June. This suggests that economic stagnation in Europe, and the ISIS-led crisis in Iraq, have impacted the Turkish economy.
