Turkish economy minister promotes boosting ties with Arab League


Turkey's Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci called late on Sunday to increase efforts aimed at boosting economic ties with Arab League nations.In his visit to Kuwait to participate in second Turkey-Arab League economy, trade and investment ministers meeting, Zeybekci attended a business dinner, which also hosted Kuwait Finance Minister Enes Halid es-Salih, Head of Kuwait Finance House Hamad el-Merzuk and CEO of Kuveyt-Turk Bank Ufuk Uyan.During his keynote speech, Zeybekci said that boosting economic ties with Kuwait is among his government's top priorities, noting that each country has sources which other lack, and this should be a common ground for better cooperation."We are aware of this as Turkey and are very pleased to see that esteemed members of the Kuwait business world area also aware of this," Zeybekci said.Zeybekci pointed out that Turkey's volume of trade among Arab League nations is just 8 percent of these countries' overall trade volume."We say: Let's do this together. Turkey is also your country. Let's cooperate within the region and boost cooperation, and increase the efficiency of business forums. So we will make extensive efforts until we reach the desired levels," Zeybekci said.Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Somalia, Mauritania, Sudan and Kuwait attended the second Turkey-Arab League economy, trade and investment ministers meeting.The Arab Trade Chambers Union and Turkey's Foreign Economic Relations Board is expected to sign an agreement for the establishment of Turk-Arab Business Council.
