Turkish consumer confidence index rose 3.4 percent to 66.45 percent in June: TÜİK


The consumer confidence index increased by 3.4 percent to hit 66.45 in June, according to a survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT). It was 64.29 in May.The financial situation expectation of the household index has increased by 2 percent since last month to hit 87.92 in June, indicating that households are more optimistic about their own financial well-being over the next 12 months. The general economic situation expectation index increased by 4.7 percent compared to May, to hit 89.48 in June. This increase implies that more consumers expect a better general economic situation over the next 12 months compared to May expectations.The unemployment expectation index also increased by 4.8 percent, indicating positive signs due to the decline in the ratio of people who expect the number of unemployed individuals to increase.Moreover, the probability of saving index decreased by 1.3 percent from 19.79 to 19.53 in June, indicating a decrease in the possibility of consumer saving over the next 12 months.
