Turkey’s industrial production increases 5.8 percent year-on-year


Turkey's seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 0.5 percent in February compared with the previous month, while calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 5.8 percent compared with the same month last year.

Mining and quarrying production index increased by 5.5 percent and manufacturing index increased by 0.6 percent, while electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 1.7 percent in February compared with the previous month.

Compared with the same month last year, mining and quarrying index increased by 7.7 percent, manufacturing index increased by 6.2 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 2.6 percent.

According to the main industrial groupings classification, the largest monthly increase in February 2016 was in durable consumer goods with 2.1 percent.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the largest monthly increase was in manufacturing of computer, electronic and optical products with 7.4 percent, followed by manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products with 5.8 percent and manufacturing of electrical equipment with 5.6 percent.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the highest decrease was in manufacture of other transport equipment by 25.5 percent, followed by manufacturing of coke and refined petroleum products with 11.2 percent and manufacturing of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations with 3.5 percent.
