Industrial production in eurozone rebounds in April

Industrial production rose by a monthly 1.1 percent across the eurozone in April, rebounding from a two-month decline.

Eurostat, the European Union's statistics agency, said Tuesday that the main reason for the increase was a higher production of big-ticket items like kitchen machinery or furniture, capital goods and non-durable consumer goods.

The jump in industrial production comes after a decline in output of 0.7 percent in March and 1.2 percent in February. It's good news for an economy that has otherwise shown signs of slowing down after a strong start to the year.
